Dermaroller: what it is and what are the benefits

Most people are looking for ways to take care of their appearance, especially their skin, so the industry is always offering new products and cosmetics to help these people find the best results, one of which is the dermaroller - a device in the shape of a "roller" where several micro-needles are inserted.

In this way, this object helps in the skin care treatment of our body, especially the face.

It is widely used by dermatologists and beauty specialists to improve the collagen in the skin. This technique is also known as microagulation.

Thus, the dermaroller has small needles that penetrate the skin and cause microperforations, improving local blood circulation, skin quality and production of collagen Thus, the body repairs these lesions to create new collagen.

The home use of the dermaroller is growing more and more, so we consulted Dr. Nabila Scabine Pessoti, an accredited dermatologist at the Skin Academy, to explain more about the use of this device at home.

Care before and after using the dermaroller

If you are considering using the dermaroller at home, you need to follow some precautions to use the device effectively and safely.

According to the dermatologist, it is essential to use sunscreen before and after performing the procedure on the skin.

"The ideal is to always do it with a specialist, because these microperforations can lead to an increase in stains, infections by bacteria or fungi, and even more intense scarring," warns Dr. Nabila.

However, if you are going to use this type of device on your face, then you can use dermaroller with better needles (0.3 or 0.5 mm) that are easier and safer. This is because the device used on the body needs larger needles, which should only be used by professionals.

Benefits

The use of the dermaroller brings several benefits to our skin: "it is effective in the treatment of scars, such as acne scars, stretch marks, aging and flabbiness, baldness, and melasma," reminds the dermatologist.

Here are other advantages that the use of this device can bring to our skin, besides those already mentioned:

Which dermaroller to use at home?

The Skin Academy specialist comments that there are several types of dermarollers on the market.

"There are several needle sizes of these devices, ranging from 0.5 mm to 2.5 mm. Dermarollers under 0.5 mm are called home devices ", explains Dr. Nabila Scabine.

The devices indicated for use at home have more superficial needles and bring to risks of complications. Therefore, the dermatologist recommends always using the product with a specialist.

However, remembering the micro needling at home must be done with a dermaroller with 0.3 mm or 0.5 mm needles.
